I am always genuinely flattered and sincerely honored when people think of me, then take action to share the experience with me. From a quick note saying, “Hey, I read this article and thought you might be interested in it, too,” to a more involved, “I was shopping, saw this item, and thought it would be perfect for you,” I truly appreciate when someone lets me know that I popped into his or her mind. It helps me feel like I “matter” – and helping another human feel valued and important is perhaps the biggest gift any person could offer.
This morning I received a note and picture from a friend that made me smile on multiple levels. Here is what she sent:
“I was on the phone with my sister tonight (who was making dinner) and she gasped and called for her kids to ‘come here and look at this!’. When she explained to me what she was experiencing, I demanded she send me a photo so I could share it with you. :)”
I love that my friend thought of me when she heard of a naturally-occurring smile; but I am completely thrilled that she ‘made’ her sister take a picture so that the image could be shared with me (and now with all of you). I’ll take gifts like these over material possessions any day. Miss J, thank you for getting my day off to a fantastic start! :)

it’s moments like this that truly do matter – as do you, my friend, as do you.
Thank you for the affirmation Joss. :) I really appreciate it. Truly.
:)
I couldn’t agree more … and what a lovely way to start the day. :-)
An eggy smile is always a great way to begin a day. :)
She is a good friend indeed! It’s a great picture, and I would have thought of you too, as soon as I saw it!
Aw, thanks Barb! If ever you see an unexpected smile, feel free to snap a pic and forward it on to me – I’ll totally feature it on the blog! :)
I will certainly do that!
