I hear you

There have been moments in my life where I have felt very “watched over”; where I have had the feeling close to my heart that someone, something, some force is looking out for me.  Clearing obstacles, creating paths.  Usually the moments are very brief and very infrequent (like, once a year, if even that often), but yet they are still strong and deep.  Well, today was a day full of those moments.  Literally.  I can point to specific multiple conversations, interactions, and occurrences from the entire day today that felt like I was being guided, directed, and just plain looked out for – starting the very moment I woke up.

For example: Today is a *crazy* weather day. I’m talking dark skies, moderately heavy rain, but mostly winds that are out of control.  (40 mph? 50 mph?  Intense.)  As I was driving home from work, I came upon a big metal construction sign:

The sign had been flipped over on its side by the wind, and was being batted about like a beach ball – towards my lane of traffic.  Oh crap.  If that sign hits my car, hello significant damage.  And there wasn’t any place I could go on the road except straight – headed right for the sign.  Oh crap.

And then, as I got within literally 10 feet of the sign, the wind died down, the sign stopped, and I passed safely by.  And once I had cleared that area of the road, the wind started up again.

This may not sound like much, but it was quite a lot to experience; and by that time in my day, this occurrence was example number eight or nine.  To have all of these types of experiences stack up in a single day; well, it’s a lot.

I’m grateful to receive such care, compassion, and love, even from a force/entity I don’t really “know”, and certainly cannot begin to fully “understand”.  With this much truly unconditional benevolence in my life, how can I help but smile?
