I live in a somewhat demographically diverse neighborhood. For example, on my street we have families with toddlers, school-age children, younger adults, middle-aged adults, retirees, and grandparents. I like this variety for many reasons; tonight, I like it because it means I get to enjoy different kids in costume, but none in excess.
Tonight we had 18 kiddos come to the house for Halloween. Two older boys came as an alien and an FBI agent – I laughed out loud. Four older girls arrived as “flower children” of the 1970s. A younger girl came decked out as Tigger (she got to stay warm; a nice bonus), and a younger boy rang the bell dressed as Mario – and said “Trick or Treat!” with an Italian accent. Awesome. (I gave him an extra piece of candy for that.)
I got to smile a lot tonight; and the entertainment came right to my front door – literally. What more could a gal ask for?

P.S. This candy hierarchy rang true for me, and gave me yet another smile this evening. 🙂
