Today is a gray, rainy, dreary day – but I’m in a really good mood. I had a very centering meditation this morning, ate a yummy and healthy breakfast (peanut butter and banana on whole wheat pita, string cheese stick, milk, hot tea), went to a yoga class that completely kicked my butt and made me laugh (ashtanga primary series), and went to an organic market where I purchased some new foods to try (I find experimenting fun).
However, not everyone’s spirits are high today. In the market, I passed by a small girl in a stroller. She was probably three years old, and held her head in her hands, like she absolutely could not believe she had to face another day:
After a few moments, she straightened up slightly, and then made a face:
And she didn’t make this face to get attention, or to be ‘cute’ – indeed, I don’t think she even knew that anyone was looking at her. I think she made the face because she felt like she had to; she just had to release the tension and the angst that was within her in some way – and instead of screaming or crying (or working or drinking), she chose a safe-yet-effective way to just get it all out.
After a few moments, the little girl put her hands in her lap, sat up straighter, breathed in and out deeply, and then smiled slightly. Ah, relief.
What a wise little yogi. 🙂

Some days life can be tough, no matter our age. Fortunately, my past several days have been delightful. 🙂 Thanks for the well-wishes; I hope you enjoyed your day as well!

I’m not usually much of one for “the wisdom of babes” — but this one really struck home.
Next time I feel like that, I’ll try making a face! :-0 Bleah! (like Snoopy says sometimes)

Sometimes just getting it out is all we need to do.
