I went to the pharmacy today to pick up a prescription. When I looked inside the paper sleeve the bottle of pills came in (in order to extract the medicine and the medication fact sheet), I saw this advertisement had been inserted into my order as well:
When I saw the name I immediately thought, “Seriously?” And I chuckled.

Dr. Dockter? Of course it reminded me of this tune:
I wonder how often poor Chad gets chided about the union of his name with his profession…

LOVED this post — but not for the reasons put forth in it!
Yeah, it’s funny about Doctor Dockter — but for me that song was BORN in The Big Chill. Oh, I knew it was a sound track of nostalgic songs — but I’d never heard it before — or any of the other fabulous songs (not my nostalgia) — so the movie was a revelation both for eyes and ears!
But I never bothered to find out about the group actually singing it, and here you are bringing them right into my house to visit!!!!!

Judith, you are most welcome! Interestingly, I’ve never seen The Big Chill – I learned this song from the ‘oldies’ station on the radio as a kid. (It was my dad’s preferred channel.)

I absolutely LOVED that movie, and even play the CD in the car, where I mostly prefer silence.
What you would make of it, I have no idea. It’s about life and death, old friends and reunions — As I say, it wasn’t my nostalgia, I’m older than their time period. You’re younger than their time period — but maybe old enough that the themes will resonate for you in their own way.
And besides, it’s got a young Kevin Kline! What could be bad? 😉

If I recall, the entire movie cast is one of rock stars. Glenn Close, Jeff Goldblum, William Hurt, Meg Tilly… not a bad bunch at all. 🙂 (And Kevin Kline went to my undergraduate alma mater, AND he speaks French; so I have a soft spot for him in my heart…) 😉

I went to Indiana University (in Bloomington, IN) for my undergrad. Et, un des mes degrees est dans le francais. (Terrible grammar and all.) 😉 I’ve considered joining a French conversation group here, but haven’t yet been moved enough to make the commitment… You’ll have to let me know what you think!
