Seven Links Challenge

My generous friend Ruth (click on her name to view her blog – she’s an amazing photographer who captures ‘everyday’ scenes with much more than an ‘everyday’ kind of eye) invited me to participate in a “Seven Links Challenge”.  I think the title is self-explanatory (or it will be very soon), so I’m just going to dig right into it:

1. Most Beautiful Post: I have a soft spot for very-old and very-young people; so many of my posts that tell stories of these two key demographics are usually very touching to me.  As such, I have way too many posts that are ‘beautiful’ to me (it’s like trying to pick my ‘favorite’ child; I love them all!), but here are two that still trigger the exact emotions in me as I felt when I experienced the situation I then wrote about: “Mama’s boy”, and “One man, many views”.
2. Most Popular Post(s): Apart from my home page, two of the ‘big hitters’ are “Two for the price of none” (988 hits), and “I like chocolate Santa Claus” (698 hits).
3. Most Controversial Post: I don’t write a ‘controversial’ blog (very much by design), but I do include posts from time to time that stem from my meditation practice.  And sometimes the word ‘meditation’ (and/or people who practice meditation) can raise some people’s hackles, so I guess if I had to pick any post that might be deemed as ‘controversial’, it would probably be one of my meditation-related posts.
4. The Most Helpful Post: I didn’t select any specific post for this item, because I think the ‘most helpful’ post is whichever one gives a sad, upset, frustrated, or lonely person a bit of joy, calm, peace, or comfort.  Hopefully many of the posts I share meet my definition of ‘helpful’.  (If you would like to share which post you have found to be “the most helpful”, I’d love to hear about it!)
5. Surprisingly Successful Post: “Oh, oh, the supply man!” with a whopping 1136 hits.  Who knew office supplies were so popular?
6. Post That Didn’t Get the Attention it Deserved: Two posts came to mind for me: “Royale with cheese”, and “I think Jesus would laugh, too.”
7. Most Proud-of Post: “Goodbye sweet girl”: This is the post I wrote the day my sweetie and I took our dog to the vet to have her put to sleep.  I’m proud that I was able to share such a painful, raw experience openly and honestly, and yet still with quiet calm.  I’m proud that I was able to honor our sweet girl, and help her memory live on.

Ruth then asked me to invite other bloggers I know to participate (if they’d like to do so).  She already tapped my friend Jonathan (who writes a daily food blog that is really more about his family than it is about his food), so I’ll see if these folks want to play:
