Error alert

This week my sweetie and I are having some painting done in a few rooms in our house (specifically, our bedroom and my study); as a result, nearly every room on our main level is in a state of substantial disarray. A plethora of boxes now line the perimeter of our living room; my meditation cushions are currently resting in front of the television; bookshelves, dressers, tables, and other large pieces of furniture have been uncomfortably pushed to the center of the room in which they reside; my computer has been disconnected and safely stored – which is good for my computer, but not so good for me.

Fortunately, my husband is a techie guy, so I can still access technology via my iPad or my iPhone (or my husband’s iPad, computer, or iPhone…) [the quantity of technology-based hardware we own is slightly obnoxious, I know; but I’m grateful for it all!]. Unfortunately, I can’t access any of my saved internet bookmarks, nor can the internet access any of my saved cookies – so I’m having to remember full website URLs, as well as logon IDs and passwords. And my memory isn’t exactly the greatest…

I did okay for most of the day today, but there was one instance where I typed in a URL to a website I visit quite often, then confidently pressed the Enter button – only to be greeted with the message below:

As soon as I saw the upset little computer guy, I laughed out loud. He just looks so anxious; I wanted to tell him, “Don’t worry buddy, it’s okay! We’ll figure it out!”

I love how the people at Google strive to humanize technology; that they aim to use machines, tools, and knowledge as vehicles for interpersonal connection instead of isolation (or intimidation). From their biggest undertakings (Google search) to the little details (like a simple 404 error message), they try to infuse humor, levity, and humanity into every facet of their being. Fantastic.
