Over the past few days three different bloggers have given me different (but similar) awards. If you are a semi-long time reader of this space, you know that a general life rule I follow is “The Rule of Three“. Since three awards have found me from three different sources within three different days, that’s my ‘cue’ to take some action. 🙂 So… I’d like to thank Evalina at Smiles & Happiness for giving me the Versatile Blogger Award, and to Genie at Genie Speaks and the gal at Corporate Skirts for giving me the One Lovely Blog Award. I genuinely appreciate all of your kindness, and love that you all are enjoying my blog!
The rules (guidelines) for each award state that I should share 7 facts about myself, then promote 15 other blogs as a way to “pay it forward”. I have shared links of the bloggers I follow in a previous post, but if you are newer to this blog, here’s a summary of those writers whom I think offer cool, interesting, and kind posts on a regular basis:
- Ruth at Ruth E Hendricks Photography
- Christine at Christine Plus Camera
- Jonathan at What Did You Have For Dinner Last Night?
- Judith at A View From the Woods
- Joss at Walking in Beauty
- Carla at One Wild and Precious Life
- Odee at Shutter Slacker
- Greg and Katherine at Rufus’ Food and Spirits Guide
(And of course there are hundreds of other bloggers I would love to read every day – but I have to draw the line somewhere. Unfortunately…)
Now for the second half of the award – 7 quick facts about me:
- I love the comic Cul De Sac. (Along with retired classics like The Far Side and Calvin & Hobbes.)
- I volunteered for over a year at a crisis hotline – and heard some pretty crazy calls…
- I didn’t start wearing skirts and dresses until I entered my mid 20s.
- I fired a handgun for the first time when I was 11 or 12 years old. (Gotta love uncles.) 😉
- My casino games of choice are blackjack and craps.
- I wake up at 4 am every day to do yoga and meditate.
- When I was 23 years old I was a suspect in an armed robbery case. (Totally true.) It’s a long story… Ultimately, what you need to know is that it was a case of mistaken identity – I was (and remain) completely innocent. 🙂
With that, I think I have officially fulfilled my responsibilities to this award. 🙂
Thank you again to Evalina, Genie, and Living Voraciously for the accolades, and thank you to everyone who reads what I write. I genuinely appreciate your interest!

Armed robbery?! I could imagine the call from the police. “Um sir, do to recall your next door neighbor from a few years ago? Do you feel she would ever rob another person with a weapon?”

It was a convenience store hold-up, not a one-on-one robbery. Go big or go home, I say. 😉

And all your wonderful comments and thoughts on my posts are much appreciated even though I don’t respond to each one.

I laughed at your number 2 … but for the opposite reason, I worked as a counselor with a psychiatrist and I heard some pretty lame excuses from people for them being the way they were. OK so maybe its not lame to them but I really wanted to shake them up and tell them to go out into the world and open their eyes to how the other half of the society lives. People with REAL problems, like putting food on the table for their children or finding a safe place to spend the night or just trying to survive another day in a war zone. Every time I try to claw my way out of depression, I go out and do something for someone else less fortunate than me or volunteer for a new cause. IT is the best prozac anyone can have 🙂 That and God 😉

I agree – giving selflessly (truly selflessly) is an amazing psychological, emotional, and spiritual boost! On par with meds, if not better. 🙂

You are most welcome! I heard a podcast a few weeks ago that discussed counting cards at a blackjack table – and now I kinda want to learn how to do it… As for #7 – it really is true. Seriously. I promise.

Congrats! And I love reading the 7 things about yourself – you could write a separate story on each one. I don’t start my sun salutations until about 7 a.m., so I’m impressed with your early morning routine.

I’m struggling with a topic for task #101 – so I may have to write a series of short stories… Hmm…

Congratulations! I’m normally just a “backgrounder” on your blog, reading without comment but wanted to pop in to say congrats!

I figure the statue of limitations has probably passed on it anyway, so no harm disclosing it now, right? 😉

# 2, 3, 4, and 7 made my eyes open wide in wonderment.
(Most of the others I already knew.) The Readers’ Digest used to have a feature called Little Known Facts about Well Known People (I think it was the R.D.) — those are really interesting facts to me! You’re a never-ending source of surprises, Stef — and of smiles.
And thanks for the mention!

You are very welcome for the mention. As for the surprising facts – yay! That was my goal. I gotta keep folks interested somehow, right? 😉
I genuinely believe that we all have great stories from our lives; sometimes it’s just finding the right time and place to share them…

Congratulations on your awards and thanks for sharing bits about yourself but you just simply have to expand on number 7 ! What a good story it would be to read about. 🙂
